from $15.00

Join us for Beekeeping Basics at Dandelion Spring.

AUGUST 24, 10am-12pm

rain or shine

This summer Dandelion Spring is the host to many buzzing bees that are owned and tended by queen bee, Emily Baucom. In this intro to beekeeping workshop some of the topics covered will be the:

  • Lifecycle of bees (with a healthy emphasis on the mating dance- because it’s fun)

  • Basic Hive set-up

  • A discussion of pollinator plants and the bee’s relationship with our native habitat

  • And more!

There are many layers to beekeeping. This workshop is intended to be a basic overview for those who are bee-curious, either on a path to having your own first hive or simply because you want to learn more about this fascinating species.

Your teacher: Emily Baucom is the beekeeper behind Rite House Farms, with a home base in Virgina. She is a sustainability advocate and educator who brings humor, heart, and a healthy dose of bee math to everything she does. Her work centers on building relationships—between people, plants, pollinators, and place. Whether she’s guiding a hive dive, hosting waggle dance relays, or mentoring new beekeepers, Emily's goal is always the same: to help others witness the brilliance of bees and the delicate systems they uphold.

“The bees remind us that nothing exists in isolation—that resilience, abundance, and even sweetness are the result of countless small efforts working together.”

📍 Location: The Hive at 961 Ridge Rd, Bowdoinham, ME 04008
