Herbal first aid is for everyone - all levels of herbal interest are welcome! Join local clinical & community herbalist, Quincy Brimstein, in this four part series that aims to prepare and empower you to deal with the unexpected and start to incorporate herbs into your first aid essentials. Together, we will discuss herbs in local abundance, and plants that can be sustainably sourced and harvested. Each class will include a hands on demo or medicine making component.

Topical Wound Care | May 7 

We will explore various herbs and preparations to support wound care and healing for all ages. Learn the difference between treating a cut vs. a burn, how to soothe bug bites, caring for a sprain or a broken bone, and what you can do to treat a tick bite. 

plants covered: calendula, comfrey, yarrow, usnea, epsom salt, echinacea, clay & charcoal, plantain, Ledum homeopathic, etc.

Addressing Infections | June 4

Building off some of the knowledge shared in topical wound care, we will move into how to use herbs internally to mitigate localized bacterial and viral infections. These methods are not a substitute to medical care, but aim to support the body as it fights off infection, especially in combination with other therapies.


We will cover topics including: GI upset, upper respiratory infection, ear infection, staph, yeast infection & cold/flu.

Immune Support - Beyond the Basics | July 2

We will discuss herbs, foods, and more, than can support the bodies innate immune systems before, during and after illness. Weaving in the importance of addressing the lymphatic system, stress management, and the role in inflammation on our immune system responses.

Pain Management, Shock, & Aftercare | August 6

Some first aid situations are bigger than we can plan for and require professional medical support. In this class, we will discuss situations where herbal remedies can support in the aftermath of major injury including pain management and soothing the nervous system from the effects of shock. These techniques are helpful for both patients and the witnesses to the first aid scenario.
