Winter CSA!

Dear Community,

Happy Equinox!  On this day of seasonal shift, we are excited to open our Winter CSA sign-up!

(** This was first written on the equinox! And just now reposted to our blog. Please sign up for our newsletter (at the base of this post) to stay up to date, in good time, with Dandelion news. **)

  • Winter shares will be available for pick up in Rockland, Bowdoinham, and Portland from December – March.

  • *New* this year, you’ll be able to receive either a farmer select box, a self-select box, or a combination.

  • We are growing the same (and more) beautiful greens to bring you each week, and partnering with other local, organic, farms for a greater root selection (we’re adding onions and potatoes this year!)

  • Our new website will allow you to make your selections each week, or if you don’t make a selection, the weekly box composition will be deferred to us!

  • $200 will reserve your share, with a balance of $200 due by mid-January.

  • Before the start of the season we’ll send detailed directions on how to make your selection each week (if you choose to customize your box).

We are leaning into an organic process, both with good ground under our feet and excitement! We are fully transparent that navigating a system with a lot of flexibility brings unknowns. Some of you may fly through your value, while others of you may not. Our intentions are to meet your needs with flexibility, as well as provide a steady income for the farm through the winter. We are open to value rolling over to a credit for our farmers’ market stand in the summer, but it is our hope that it will be put to use in the winter.

We are part of a vibrant farm community. Not too many years ago, we offered a Full Diet CSA where we proudly grew everything in it, from potatoes and greens, to pork, beef, lamb, milk & eggs. There is a purity that some farms pride themselves on of growing everything they sell, and we used to fall in that camp. Since then, good economics and self care have bent us in a different direction. We liken it to restaurants with small menus – do what you do well and let it shine. There are so many farms who are specializing (in their still diverse Maine farm way) and producing very quality product, with the care to make it a price point that is profitable to them and accessible to us. We are looking forward to sharing this diversity with you through the season.
